The following workshops and training opportunities are offered by the Cyber-ShARE Center to the UTEP community both on a fixed schedule and on-demand. Please send an email to Dr. Romero (raromero2@utep.edu) if you are interested in attending any of the workshops or having a workshop offered to a group.

  • Using TeraGrid and Cyber-ShARE HPC Resources – This workshop introduces participants to application parallelization, basic MPI programming, and CI resources available through TeraGrid and Cyber-ShARE.
  • Parallel Programming Using the Message Passing Interface – This workshop will teach attendees how to program parallel applications in a distributed computational environment using MPI with an emphasis on intermediate and advanced functionality.
  • Data Interoperability through Ontologies – This workshop will introduce attendees to creation and use of ontologies to represent knowledge for data interoperability.
  • Poster Critique – This Affinity Research Group (ARG) workshop will develop student researchers. The workshop focuses on preparing a critique, the role of devil's advocate to expand point of view, and providing constructive feedback.
  • Scientific Visualization – This workshop introduces attendees to the principles of visualization for scientific research and engineering.
  • Setting Goals and Objectives – This workshop will develop student researchers by focusing on evaluating and writing research goals and objectives.
  • Linux New User Training – This workshop will teach attendees how to use the basic command line, file system structure, and software development commands and tasks in a Linux operating system distribution.
  • C Programming (Introduction) – This workshop will introduce attendees to the C language syntax, program structure, and programming tools in a Linux environment.
  • C Programming (Advanced) – This workshop will teach attendees how to use advanced C language constructs and debugging techniques in a Linux programming environment.
