Dr. Emir José Macari is the Director of the California Smart Grid Center. Prior to this, he was the Dean of Engineering and Computer Science at the California State University – Sacramento. He has also been part of the UT System family when he served as Dean of Science and Technology at the University of Texas at Brownsville prior to moving to Sacramento. Dr. Macari worked at the National Science Foundation as Program Director of the Centers of Research Excellence in Science and Technology in 2001-02. Dr. Macari was the Chairman and Bingham C. Stewart Distinguished Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at LSU. In addition, he has been Associate Professor of Geosystems Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology and Assistant and Associate Professor and Director of the Civil Infrastructure Research Center at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez. He has authored and co-authored more than 100 technical papers.
