Summer Southwest Regional Cyberinfrastructure Workshop

The Summer Southwest Regional Cyberinfrastructure Workshop was held on Friday, August 10, 2007 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). Cyberinfrastructure (CI) is providing today's scientists with tools to discover, access, integrate, and disseminate knowledge in distributed environments, thus changing the way in which research is conducted. The workshop invited a group of scientists—including students, faculty, and professionals—with the objective of promoting awareness of the role of CI as it relates to
scientific research. Additionally, the workshop engaged them by using these tools in support of CI-based tasks. To accomplish these objectives, workshop members participated in a series of tutorials where they were taught basic functions of the Kepler Scientific Workflow Management System and the Workflow-Driven Ontology tool (WDO-It!).
